AOK Kindness Hub, in partnership with Lifeline Outreach Society (Janice & Dave) and other organizations, provides food security to low income households in both Langley & Aldergrove. We are open every Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. What may look like groceries being sorted and hampers being filled is something much deeper – kindness in action, hope being restored and lives being transformed. Week after week, the dedication and teamwork of organizations we work with, like Lifeline, create a ripple effect far beyond the walls of the food bank.
Lifeline was one of the first organizations we partnered with and the support and donations received from Lifeline helped catapult us to where we are today. Five years ago, seeing the amount of food Lifeline was rescuing encouraged us to forge ahead and take action to do the same. Lifeline’s continued partnership and support is invaluable as the contributions we receive to our food bank helps us serve more families. The shared commitment to this work with people like Janice & Dave is an inspiration to all of us.
AOK Kindness Hub has had many success stories and would love to share a couple with you as they would not be possible without the support of partners like Lifeline:
One single mother of three was working hard to build a better future for her family by taking courses to qualify for a new career. Because her classes ran during the food bank’s hours, she couldn’t always make it in. Each week, volunteers prepared a special hamper so she could focus on her studies while still providing for her children. Just recently, she sent a joyful message—she passed her exams and is now applying for jobs in the hospital sector. Her words of thanks remind us that food doesn’t just feed the body; it sustains hope.
Another story begins with a family from Afghanistan who arrived in Canada unable to speak English. After visiting Kindness Hub as a food recipient, the father asked if he could volunteer. Thanks to another volunteer who spoke his language, he was able to connect and quickly became part of the team. His family shared that volunteering has improved his health, given him purpose, and filled him with joy. Each week he helps faithfully, all while learning English and building friendships.
We have many former clients who have come in and thanked us for helping them through a difficult time in their life but they are now back on their feet and supporting themselves. Being there for families in difficult times and hearing their success stories is what motivates everyone to keep moving ahead.
AOK Kindness Hub has also partnered with the Black Feather organization through the Langley School District, Langley Senior Resource Centre, Stepping Stones (who will be providing free income tax services to our clients), New Directions who help immigrant families and also Ron Cares Society who provides necessities to our community. We also partner with a workplace volunteer program (Inclusion Langley) that brings a supervisor and three teenagers every week. Together, they help set up, sort groceries, and assist the team in countless ways. Their enthusiasm and reliability have been a huge support—and a reminder that the next generation is eager to step up and make a difference.
AOK Kindness Hub has become known for its abundance of fresh produce, but that’s not all. Families also receive dairy, bread, pantry staples, health and beauty products, meat, baked goods, sweets, pet food, and even clothing. Every hamper provides not just essentials, but dignity and care. Again, all this supported by help from Lifeline.
AOK Kindness Hub is not just about distributing food, it’s about building relationships like the one we have with Lifeline, nurturing hope, and creating opportunities for people to flourish. Each box of groceries represents teamwork, compassion, and the belief that no one should have to walk their journey alone.
We thank Lifeline, Janice & Dave, for being wonderful partners in this work and we look forward to continuing our journey with them. We give all praise and glory to our Lord and Saviour for making this all possible.
